In the just concluded 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Nigeria's own, Runtown, emerged the winner in the 'African Artist of the year' category. As a matter of fact, all the nominees in that category are all Nigerians and I can't help but wonder how Runtown won in this category. Let's just dismiss (for now) that the nominees are 'Nigerians' and the category states 'African' artist of the year.
Okay, here's my (not so serious) analysis based on the songs each of the nominees released in the year 2016 via YouTube.
Patoranking - No Kissing Baby ft. Sarkodie --- 18,880,676 views
Mr. Eazi - Hollup --- 7,588,032 views
Runtown - Mad Over You --- 23,326,089 views
Tekno - Pana --- 28,051,983 views
Nathaniel Bassey - Onise Iyanu ft GFC & Micah Stampley --- 204,597 views (not his actual channel)
I am so laughing at this my analysis of mine but based on YouTube views, Tekno is the winner. Who knows the kind of influence Runtown has in Ghana that made the voters pick him. He's good...don't get me wrong. I mean he delivered a good show back in March. I'm just thinking.
