HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎉🎉🎉🎉😁💃💃💃💃 This 2019 is surely a year of fulfillment for us all. Amen?
This song 'Malwedhe' (pronounced mal-weh-deh) by South African's own, King Monada, ushered me into 2019. The song was released towards the end of 2018 and I feel it needs to linger.
I will describe this song as a heartbreak song with a funny side to it. The song starts with:
Nna rena le malwedhe (I have a sickness)...Geo okhe Jola lenna, (If you are dating me)..Okhe raloke kago Nhlala (Don't play with breaking up with me)...Nna rena le malwedhe (I have a sickness)...Wa nhlala odho tsosa Malwedhe ale khole (If you break up with me, you will bring up hidden sickness from far)...Kena Le Bolwedhe bja go idibala (I have a sickness of collapsing)...Wa nhlala kea idibala (If you break up with me, I'll collapse)

Not a cute thing to make fun of any kind of sickness but the way it was used in this song was kinda funny (no doubt). The song gave birth to a dance challenge known as #malwedhe_Challenge on social media created by Nkupi the Entertainer. This is when one falls down (mimicking someone that collapsed) when you hear the chorus to the song. Like so...
Or...
I don't know about you guys but I find this dance move funny and the song very creative. It shouldn't be forgotten that soon.
